The Executive Education (EE) department at the ISB undertakes capacity-building efforts for public and private sector organizations in India. We are seeking a candidate to join our team as a Research Associate who will bring with them rigorous research abilities and strong communication skills.

The candidate will join the Policy Research and Analysis wing within the EE and aid the team in planning and conducting impact assessment studies, and generating knowledge materials such as research reports, case studies and policy briefs.

Desired Candidate Profile –

Ideal candidates will have a keen interest in conducting quantitative research, primarily using impact evaluation methodologies. They will be proficient in the use of techniques such as regression analysis using at least one statistical tool such as STATA, SPSS, R or Python. They will also possess sound theoretical knowledge of randomized and quasi-experimental research methods. Qualitative research skills such as knowledge of survey design and experience of conducting literature scans will be valued strongly.

They should also possess strong writing skills and a keen interest in communicating research findings with stakeholders possessing varying levels of familiarity with technical subjects.

This position may be well suited to candidates looking to gain experience in conducting applied econometric research in an academic setting, including those wishing to eventually pursue PhDs in public policy and related areas.

Job Specification –

Knowledge / Education –

Master’s degree in public policy, research methods, or similar. Applicants with a Bachelor’s degree in economics or a related discipline with quantitative research training, and relevant research experience will also be considered.

Skills-

Technical –

  • Ability to code in STATA, SPSS, R or Python
  • Experience/interest in conducting impact evaluation studies
  • Exposure to econometrics and concepts of causal inference is desirable
  • Strong writing skills

Good to have: Experience or interest in education delivery, including curriculum design and blended learning.

Behavioural – Motivation to learn and expand existing skill sets

Experience – 1 to 4 years

Key Responsibilities –

  • Conducting research studies through activities that range from designing and delivering surveys for data collection to analysing gathered data using statistical methods, and preparing research reports for a variety of stakeholders.
  • Generating knowledge materials as needed; these can include blog posts, white papers, policy briefs and memos, proposals and presentations.
  • Help conduct impact assessment studies for various initiatives, and policies, driving efforts to quantify the effectiveness of training courses; evaluating learners’ experiences and outcomes to deliver design improvements.
  • Aiding EE outreach activities by preparing approach notes for existing and potential partners and stakeholders
