Work description:
The candidates will be expected to assist with ongoing research projects in Asset Pricing, Derivatives, Market Microstructure, and Corporate Finance. The work would be mainly empirical, like handling large-scale finance data sets, doing statistical analysis, scraping data, and writing reports. Candidates would also be involved in theoretical work, including organizing related literature, writing theoretical models, etc.
The work is best suited to a student seeking to obtain pre-doctoral research experience to transition to a top Ph.D. program in Finance and Accounting or a Ph.D. in some other related discipline.
Qualifications:
Candidates with a prior background in Finance, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, and related discipline are encouraged to apply. Candidates with outstanding academic record and/or past research experience and aspiring to get into an academic or research career will be given preference.
Eligibility:
Candidates must have a good knowledge of at least one among STATA/R, Python, and Latex and an ability to learn new languages on the go. Ideally, candidates will have prior experience handling data sets. Candidates with a good understanding of econometric techniques, derivatives, corporate finance concepts, and good English communication skills will be given preference. Relevant letters of recommendation are welcome but not necessary.
Tenure:
The initial appointment for either position is for six months, with a possibility of an extension or up to one year, based on performance appraisal. Candidates are expected to join the team for at least 12 months (looking to join PhD program in 2024/25).
Reporting to : Prof. Sobhesh Kumar Agarwalla, Prof. Vineet Virmani, and other faculty in the Finance & Accounting Area, Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad.
Compensation: Compensation will commensurate with the qualification and experience. Location: Office space shall be provided on the IIMA campus. Thus, locating near IIMA will be optimal.
