The National Centre for Cell Science (NCCS) is an autonomous institution of the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India, was founded to accelerate cell biology research throughout the country and as a national repository for cell lines/hybridomas, for the purpose of basic research, for education and training, and for other similar purposes.

NCCS is situated on the SPPU (Savitribai Phule Pune University) campus, Pune, which is known for its academic excellence. NCCS is accepting applications for the following posts such as Laboratory Manager, Technical Lab-Associate, Technical Officer and so on for various extramural projects. These posts are strictly temporary in nature.

NCCS Pune Recruitment 2024: Eligibility Criteria

Qualifications for the above-said positions, including educational background, and professional experience along with age limits are detailed below.

Post Names and Qualifications

Laboratory Manager, Tier II, Grade C

Essential Qualification & Experience: i) Master’s Degree in Natural or Agricultural Sciences / MVSc or bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognized University or equivalent;

And

ii) 4 years’ experience in Research and Development in Industrial and Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organizations and Scientific activities and services.

Doctoral Degree in Science/Engineering/Technology/Pharma/MD/MS from a recognized University or equivalent.

Desirable Experience: Should have in-depth knowledge of advanced light microscopy techniques. A person with experience in independently handling microscopes for biological samples including cells (Fluorescence, Confocal, etc.) and proven team management capabilities will be preferred.

Technical-Lab Associate (Tier-I, Grade B)

Essential Qualification & Experience: BSc/3 years Diploma in Engineering & Technology.

Desirable Experience: Should have 2-year experience in handling LC-MS/MS.

Veterinary Scientist (Tier II, Grade B)

Essential Qualification & Experience: M.V.Sc. in Veterinary Pathology from a VCI-recognized college.

Desirable Experience: i) 2 Years experience in the area of Veterinary pathology and histopathology, well versed in the postmortem examination of animals, gross pathology, tissue and organ sampling, tissue processing, sectioning/staining, review and reporting of the slides.

And

ii) Experience in the postmortem and pathology of laboratory animals, Immunohistochemistry etc.

Laboratory Supervisor (Tier I, Grade A)

Essential Qualification & Experience: Master’s Degree in Natural or Agricultural Sciences / M.V.Sc. or bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognized University or equivalent.

And

2 years’ experience in Research and Development in Industrial and Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organizations and Scientific activities and services.

Desirable Experience: Excellent Lab/Administrative skills to provide supervisory assistance to the PI. Should have excellent knowledge of working and operations in a Biosafety Lab. A recommendation letter highlighting the leadership skills of working in a BSL-3 Facility or at least a BSL-2 level facility is highly desirable.

Technical Officer (Tier II, Grade C)

Essential Qualification & Experience: Master’s Degree in Natural or Agricultural Sciences / MVSc or bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognized University or equivalent

And

2 years’ experience in Research and Development in Industrial and Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organisations and Scientific activities and services

And

Scholars who are selected through (a) National Eligibility Tests – CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) or GATE or (b) A selection process through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions.

Desirable Experience: Excellent Lab skills to provide official and technical support to the PI in setting up the BSL-3 Lab, streamlining its operations. Should have excellent technical knowledge in Biosafety procedures. A recommendation letter highlighting the technical assistance provided elsewhere would be desirable.

Technical Supervisor (Tier I, Grade A)

And

2 years’ experience in Research and Development in Industrial and Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organisations and Scientific activities and services.

Desirable Experience: Excellent Biosafety Laboratory operations experience of at least a year is desirable. Should have supervised the technical trouble shooting of day-to-day operations of a BSL3 or at least a BSL-2 facility at least for a year. Should have good operational knowledge in a Biosafety Lab.

Technical Assistant (Tier I, Grade B)

Essential Qualification & Experience: BSc/3 years Diploma in Engineering & Technology.

Desirable Experience: Should have provided technical assistance to the PI in day-to-day operations in a BSL3/BSL-2 facility at least for a year.

Senior Research Fellow

Essential Qualification & Experience: Post Graduate Degree in Basic Science or Graduate / Post Graduate Degree in Professional Course selected through a process described through any one of the following & should have 2 years of research experience.

Scholars who are selected through National Eligibility Tests – CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and/or GATE.
The selection process through National Level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MoE, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, NISER etc.

Desirable Experience: Experience in tissue culture, long noncoding RNA, western blotting, molecular cloning, protein purification.

Junior Research Fellow

Essential Qualification & Experience: Same as Senior Research Fellow.

Desirable Experience: Experience in molecular cloning and protein purification. Candidate should be knowing basics of R and Python.

Project Assistant

Essential Qualification & Experience: B.Sc. / 3 years diploma in Engineering and Technology.

Desirable Experience: Minimum 6 months of research experience.

Project Associate – I

Desirable Experience: Atleast 2 years’ experience with confocal or super resolution microscopy, image analysis, cell culture and gene editing.

Age Limits

The age requirement for the positions specified in the NCCS Recruitment 2024 official notification is between 28 and 50 years old.

NCCS Pune Recruitment 2024: Project Monthly Salary

The candidate’s appointment will be on a temporary basis from 6 months to 2 years based on the assigned Project.

NCCS Pune Recruitment 2024: Selection Process

Candidates will be selected on the basis of Interview only in physical mode. All the eligible candidates are required to attend the Walk-In Interviews to be held at NCCS Complex.

REPORTING TIME: 09.30 am
VENUE: National Centre for Cell Science, NCCS Complex, Savitribai Phule Pune University Campus, Ganeshkhind Road Pune – 411007, Maharashtra State, India.

Important Instructions:

All should report at 09.30 am sharp at the address given below and those candidates appearing for the interview should register their names in the register, kept at the Security Gate.
Candidates reporting after 09.30 am will not be permitted to attend the Interview, which may please be noted.
In case the number of candidates appearing for the interview is large the interviews will continue on 31st JANUARY, 2024.
