The Department of BioTechnology (DBT) is inviting applications for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in a research project titled “Sexual Selection and the Evolution of Immune Function.” The project focuses on investigating the relationship between secondary sexual characters in male crickets, immune function in crickets, female mate choice decisions, and the potential costs and benefits associated with these decisions.

Project Details

Title: Sexual Selection and the Evolution of Immune Function
No. of Positions: 01
Duration: 1 year (extendable after review)
Funding Agency: Department of BioTechnology
Emolument: As per DBT norms.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates should possess an M.Sc. or equivalent degree in any discipline of Science or Engineering. Additionally, they must have cleared any national-level exam conducted by central government departments or agencies such as DST, DBT, CSIR, UGC, IIT, ICMR, including exams like GATE and CSIR-UGC NET (including lectureship).

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in ecology, evolution, behavior, immunology, or entomology, as the project involves both fieldwork and lab-based experimental work. The fieldwork will be conducted during nocturnal hours and may be physically demanding. Thus, the candidate should be highly motivated, capable of working in diverse team settings, and adept at handling both field and laboratory work.

Interview and Selection Process
